Thank You To Parishioners & Parents That Attend Weekly School Masses!
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all those that attend our weekly school masses. Your actions and presence do not go unnoticed. We appreciate your faith and the example that you set for our students.
Adult Faith Formation Opportunities Available
The Christian Formation Committee is offering a series called “Catholicism” as ongoing formation for Little Flower Parishioners. It is our goal that every adult/family will view these sessions. This series consists of ten one-hour DVD sessions presented marvelously by Rev. Robert E. Barron. What is so wonderful about this series is that if you miss any, you can pick it up another time. We will make these available to all who are interested.
If you need other times, please indicate on the sign up sheets that will be available in the All Souls Chapel this weekend November 12-13, and November 19-20. These sessions will be held throughout the year as long as there are interested parishioners. Beginning dates are Sunday, November 27 and Wednesday, November 30. Each week, there will be a short explanation of each session. Tuition Incentives Available
Beginning this year, we will offer a $500 tuition reduction incentive for any Little Flower family that is able to recruit a new family to our school. The children of the new family must be in grades K-8 and the family cannot be existing members of Little Flower Parish. For more information please contact Mr. Baird or refer to the informational letter in this week’s Tuesday folder. Once you have successfully recruited a new family, please contact Mr. Baird or Mrs. Barb Schlanger to receive credit.

Box Tops Drive A Huge Success!!!
Thank you to everyone that participated in our recent box tops drive. We were able to raise $1,134 with this most recent effort. Please continue to support this program as it is a very easy way to support our school. Thank you to Theresa Human for leading and organizing the drive.
Power of Positive Program We have completed two months with our new “Power of Positive” program. During that time we have emphasized the traits of service and doing “little things” like St. Therese. During the month of Sept. many students performed an act of service. During Oct. students have been doing many little things for others. We hope that these displays of kindness continue! For the month of Nov. our emphasis will be on positive “words” and “communication.” We will highlight the importance of this throughout the month.
Please Return Run/Walk Signs
If you displayed a 5K Run/Walk we thank you for the advertisement. If you still have the sign, please return it to the school office so that we can change the dates and use them again next year.
Little Flower Alumni/Good News
Do you know of a Little Flower alumnus doing good things (i.e. graduating H.S. or college, excelling in fine arts, music, athletics, professional life, etc.)? If so, please let us know so that we may celebrate the successes of the current and former members of our community.
Third “Coffee Talk” Meeting Scheduled
The monthly “coffee talk” meeting for November is scheduled for Thursday Nov. 17 beginning at 7:45 a.m. The informal gathering will be held in the school library. Please consider joining us to discuss a variety of school related matters.

Lice Prevention & Tips For Checking For Lice
-We would like to take the opportunity to remind parents of healthy practices in keeping your children lice free and for checking your child. We are not aware of any cases of lice in our school this year, but it is important to remind everyone of the importance of checking the children and knowing the proper procedures to deal with any potential cases.
1) Be sure there is adequate lighting when checking your child's head for lice. A brightly lit bathroom or a flashlight will help you spot any lice or eggs.
2) Begin at the nape (bottom) of the neck and work your way up. Lice and eggs can be anywhere on the head but they do prefer warmer places to hide. The lower hairline is a good place to start.
3) Using either your fingers or a tail comb, slowly part the hair down the middle, from the crown to the nape of the neck. Check the part for eggs on the hair shaft (small white specks attached to the hair shaft) or adult lice. The eggs will be well attached and should only be able to be removed by scraping off the hair with your finger nail.
4) Once the first section is checked, part the hair either to the left or right of your original part in very small sections. Check this new parting for eggs and adult lice.
5) Repeat this process throughout the entire back of the head, paying extra attention to the warmer spots at the nape, hairline and close to the ears.
6) When the entire back portion of the head is complete, part your child's hair from the crown to the front hairline and repeat the process for the front of the hair.
7) If lice are found on your child's head treatment must be given immediately.
8) Remove your child's clothing that they are wearing and all bedding on your child's bed. Wash immediately or your child will risk another exposure. All materials such as jackets, hats, scarves, pillow or blanket that your child may have come in contact with will be infested and must be washed.
9) Wash your hands thoroughly once the clothes are in the washer.
10) Go to the drug store and purchase a lice shampoo. Follow the directions given with the product.
11) If you have other children in the house check them for lice as well. If you suspect you may be infected have someone check you or use the lice shampoo just to be safe.
12) Be persistent. The treatment may have to be repeated before the lice or eggs are completely killed.
Do You Use Trash Bags?
For most of us we use trash bags in many ways. Little Flower now has bags available to support our school & parish. The bags are high quality plastic and available in two sizes. The bags are available in 15 and 39 gallon sizes. The 15 gallon bags come in rolls of 65 and the 39 gallon bags are available in 25 count rolls. Each roll sells for $10 and 35% of each sale is returned to the parish/school. The bags are available daily in the school office or are also available after the 10:30 a.m. children’s liturgy masses held once a month.
Help Little Flower defray administrative costs, purchases of books and other expenses by supporting the use of gift cards. Make Land’s End purchases count by using Land’s End Gift Cards. You receive full value of the gift card and Little Flower receives 16% at no additional cost to you! Also remember when placing orders through Land’s end to use Little Flower School Code #900116716 and you will automatically contribute up to 3% of your purchases. Walmart and Target gift cards are also useful for everyday purchases. Gift cards make great gifts as well! Gift cards from various stores are available for immediate purchase every Sunday after Mass. Order forms for other stores are available in the church rectory, on Fast Direct and the school office. Go to www.glscrip.com for a full list of contributing stores. (Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery of cards that must be ordered).
Prayer Kits Available!
Some of you may recall from last year, we have prayer kits available for use in your home. The kit is designed to encourage families to place an emphasis on prayer and to take the time to pray as a family. If you would like to request the kit, please send Mr. Baird a Fast Direct message.

Positive and negative are directions. Which direction do you choose? (Anonymous) Gift Cards Available After School on Thursdays and In The School Office
