Documentary On The History & Future Of Catholic Education
A newly-produced one-hour documentary on the history and future of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, Mission to Educate: A Faithful Past, A Faith-Filled Future, will air on HEC-TV (Cable) at the following times:
Sunday, Jan. 31, 6 p.m. Sundays in February, 1 p.m. Mondays in February, 7 p.m.
HEC-TV is Channel 26 for Charter Cable customers and Channel 99 for AT & T U-Verse customers with HEC-TV option.
When Mission To Educate is being aired on HEC-TV, it will be simultaneously shown online at hectv.org. The documentary will soon be available on the HEC-TV site and on iTunes U, available for downloads to iPods or iPhones.

Little Flower Students On The Honor Roll At Vianney H.S.!
We at Little Flower would like to take the opportunity to congratulate some Little Flower graduates on their success at Vianney High School. Little Flower graduates Douglas Morgan, Sean Hoel, and Mark Gould were on the honor roll for the first semester. Congratulations students and keep up the good work! You make us all proud!
Congratulations To 8th Grader Ryan Bub
On Saturday January 30 a group of Little Flower students competed in the St. Louis University High School Math Competition. Over 100 students and 22 schools competed in the competition and we are very proud to announce that Ryan Bub finished in 1st Place! Congratulations Ryan and congratulations to all of our students that participated. A special thank you to Mrs. Duncan for sponsoring this event.
Congratulations To Speech Meet Students
This past weekend the February Speech Meet was held. Many Little Flower students participated and several received awards. Red Ribbons were awarded to Ivy Vargas (serious monologue) and Caroline Lipic (humorous monologue); Blue Ribbons were awarded to Emma Chmelir and Taylor Cook (duet), Annie Shelton and Madeline Nathe (duet), Annie Morgan (humorous), Ellen Dryden (humorous), Addison Kobie (serious), and Maddie Dawson (serious). A gold ribbon for a top score was awarded to Melissa Bean and Abby Baker for a duet. Congratulations to these students and all that participated. A special thank you to Mrs. Weaver for coordinating the event.
Catholic Schools’ Week A Success!
This year’s Catholic Schools’ Week was a success. Many special events occurred throughout the week including; a special thank you to the Richmond Heights Community and to our Parish Community, myself and four student ambassadors visited our neighbor Catholic Schools and wished them a Happy Catholic Schools’ Week with cards and flowers, a special thank you to our volunteers and parents, a Mass for Little Flower families, a teacher appreciation luncheon, and student day activities including, a trivia game and a Blues Music performance.
8th Grade Spaghetti Dinner Coming
On Saturday February 20 the 8th graders will host their annual Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for the 8th grade trip. The dinner will last from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and the cost is $5 a person or $20 for a family. The dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, Italian Salad, cheese garlic bread, dessert and beverage. Magnets Can Be Used On Automobiles
One parent made an excellent point regarding the magnets that were given out during Catholic Schools’ Week. The magnets can be used as car decorations as well as magnets for the refrigerator and filing cabinets.
Easy Fundraising For Little Flower
How often do you use Search Engines? My guess is that you use them often. You can raise money for our school while completing your searches. Use www.goodsearch.com and you can support our school. They give 1 cent for every search that is made. Over the course of a year this could translate to hundreds of dollars for our school.
Shoe Drive, Get Rid Of Those Old Smelly Shoes
Want to help needy people around the world? Want to make your house smell better and become more organized? We have a way for you to do both. Starting during Catholic School’s Week and throughout the month of February, Little Flower School and Parish will be collecting old shoes. The shoes are recycled at $0.35 a pound. This money is taken by Pastor George Hutchings to help the poor and needy around the world. For more information go to www.shoeman.org
FUN* *FUN* *FUN* It’s back!! Little Flower will be hosting a second edition of the Trivia Night on Friday, February 26th. Once again, Little Flower’s own Jamie Allman has graciously volunteered to emcee. Auction, 50/50, and games are just a few of the fun events on tap for the evening. Doors open at 6:30pm with the trivia to begin at 7:00pm. The cost is $150 per table – maximum 10 people per table. Six Flags Read To Succeed Forms Due Soon!
The Six Flags Read To Succeed tally sheets are due to your child's teacher by February 24.The tickets will arrive sometime in April.
Magazine Drive Is Here
Our magazine drive is here and our kickoff is on Tuesday February 9. The students will be bringing home information on Tuesday. If possible please support our drive.
Please Support The Maggie Welby Foundation
The Maggie Welby Foundation is a wonderful charity that assists families with tuition and financial responsibilities as well as offering grants to children and families in need of assistance with bills, athletic opportunities, medical needs, etc. This foundation was created in the memory of Maggie Welby, a seven-year old girl who was suddenly taken away from her family in 2005. The foundation will have a trivia night on Saturday Feb. 13, at DuBourg High School. The foundation will also be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day run on Saturday March 13, 2010. Interested In A Tax Credit For Catholic Education?
The organization “Citizens for Educational Freedom” is fighting for a Missouri Constitutional Amendment that will provide a tax credit for families with students in private/Catholic education. If you would like to assist these efforts or support this cause please visit www.educational-freedom.org. Little Flower School will be participating in these efforts. Please pay attention for more information in the upcoming weeks.
Little Flower After-School Care Program
On Monday January 4 we began our after-school care program. The program will be available from 3:05-6 every school day. The costs of the program are:
$240 a month, everyday, all day
$65 a week, everyday, all day
$15 a day for 3 hours
$3 per ½ hour
These numbers reflect what your cost would be depending upon how much time you commit to and can be pro-rated depending on how much time you need. The program is being run by one of our Little Flower parents, Stephanie Lucas. At our after care program the students will complete homework with assistance, play board games, have snacks, and socialize. To enroll your child or for questions please contact Mr. Baird.
