Congratulations 7th Grade Girl’s Basketball Team!!
Congratulations to the Little Flower 7th grade girl’s basketball team. The girls recently participated in the 35th annual St. Mary Magdalen Double Sevens Tournament. The team did not win 1st or 2nd place, but the girls accomplished something even better than that! They won the Reverend Robert J. Mihelyi Sportsmanship Award. These girls represented Little Flower School and their families in a very positive way, and were rewarded for it, congratulations girls!

Charities For January And February
For the month of January our Charity of the Month will be the Chromosome 9p- Network. For February the charity will be the Maggie Welby Foundation (see paragraph about Maggie Welby). The Chromosome 9p- Network is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and bringing together families with children who have 9p- or Alfi's Syndrome. Children born with 9p- are known to have mental, physical and developmental disabilities in varying degrees, from mild to severe. Currently, there are approximately 250 families worldwide with 9p- children. Because of the minute number of children inflicted with 9p-, the Network has become a valuable source for families to share information and to help further research in this extremely rare chromosome anomaly.
Shoe Drive, Get Rid Of Those Old Smelly Shoes
Want to help needy people around the world? Want to make your house smell better and become more organized? We have a way for you to do both. Starting during Catholic School’s Week and throughout the month of February Little Flower School and Parish will be collecting old shoes. The shoes are recycled at $0.35 a pound. This money is taken by Pastor George Hutchings to help the poor and needy around the world. For more information go to www.shoeman.org

Please Support The Maggie Welby Foundation
The Maggie Welby Foundation is a wonderful charity that assists families with tuition and financial responsibilities as well as offering grants to children and families in need of assistance with bills, athletic opportunities, medical needs, etc. This foundation was created in the memory of Maggie Welby, a seven-year old girl who was suddenly taken away from her family in 2005. The foundation will have a trivia night on Saturday Feb. 13, at DuBourg High School. The foundation will also be participating in the St. Patrick’s Day run on Saturday March 13, 2010. If you are interested in either of these events or for more information please visit www.maggiewelby.org
