Little Flower Newsletter 3-8-10

ACRE Test Results Have Arrived

The test results for the annual ACRE Religion curriculum assessment have arrived.  This test is given annually to 5th and 8th grade students across the country.  Little Flower Catholic School performed very well on this test.  The two classes exceeded the national averages in all areas with the exception of one area, in which, our students met the average.  These results indicate that the Religion curriculum at Little Flower is very strong.  We are very proud of our students, teachers, and our program!

Family Fun Expo

On Saturday March 6 “the Heights” held a Family Fun Expo.  This event was designed to provide parents with information about educational and recreational events for their children.  Our booth had approximately 10 families express interest in our school.

Helpers Of God’s Precious Infants

Did you know that abortions are performed only 8 blocks away from our Cathedral Basilica?  First reactions to this might be shock, outrage, or sadness.  Rather, this close proximity of good and evil is a great opportunity for hope and change.  Helpers of God’s Precious Infants can help to make this happen.  On March 21, 2010, and on the third Sunday of every month, you are invited to the 8:00 a.m. Mass and prayer vigil at the Cathedral Basilica.  After Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration.  All who are able are invited to pray the rosary during a peaceful procession to the abortion facility at Forest Park and Boyle.  Upon return to the Cathedral, all participate in Benediction.  The event concludes at 9:45.  For more information contact Maureen Kane at 647-6019.

Stations Of The Cross

Stations of the Cross will be performed every Friday for the remainder of Lent.  The Living Stations Of The Cross will be performed on Friday March 26 at 2:00 in the Church.  There was a flyer that was circulated that had a different date.  Please disregard this flyer and join us on March 26.

St. Louis Archdiocese Golf Tournament

The 10th Annual Ryan/Governal Golf Tournament, benefiting Archdiocesan scholarship funds will be held on Saturday June 10, 2010.  The event will be held at the Eagle Springs Golf Club with a Shotgun Start scheduled for 1:15 p.m.  The cost of the event is $95 a person or $380 per team.  If you would like to participate or make a donation to the scholarship funds, please contact Mr. Baird and I will provide you with additional information.

Kindergarten Screening

The Kindergarten screening for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on Friday March 19.  Please pay attention for additional information in the upcoming weeks.

How Often Do You Shop Online?
My guess is that like myself, many of you shop online frequently.  Little Flower School has partnered with an organization called School Mall.  This company will allow you to shop at many of your favorite merchants, while earning money for our school.  Information will be sent home on Tuesday March 2 in the Tuesday Packet.  If you are interested please fill out the information and return it as soon as possible.

Little Flower Duet Night

The Little Flower Speech Team has been performing speeches throughout the year at local competitions, and they would now like to display their talents to you. The Little Flower Speech Team will be presenting their first ever "Duet Night" on Thursday, March 25 from 5:30-6:30 at the Little Flower School Hall. Nine duet performances will be taking place, and all are welcome to attend. For further information contact Mrs. Weaver or Mrs. Spies.

Easy Fundraising For Little Flower

How often do you use Search Engines?  My guess is that you use them often.  You can raise money for our school while completing your searches.  Use www.goodsearch.com and you can support our school.  They give 1 cent for every search that is made.  Over the course of a year this could translate to hundreds of dollars for our school.
